Eduarda Macedo, la nouvelle conseillère verte de la capitale

La Stad Lëtzebuerg a une nouvelle conseillère verte. Assermentée le 18 octobre, Eduarda Macedo vient occuper le siège devenu vacant suite au retrait de Carlo Back. Avec elle, la diversité des habitants de la ville se trouvera dorénavant mieux reflétée dans la composition du Conseil communal.

Eduarda Macedo est portugaise et elle est née à Lisbonne il y a de nombreuses années. C’est à Lisbonne qu’elle a grandi et fait des études en Psychologie. Elle a un fils et vit à Beggen.

Quand elle s’est rendue pour la première fois au Grand-Duché, elle est venue seule, sac à dos et inter-rail dans la poche. Si, à ce moment-là, on lui avait dit qu’elle reviendrait au Luxembourg pour y rester, jamais elle ne l’aurait cru. Elle est revenue au milieu des années 1980, en courant derrière l’Europe à laquelle le Portugal était sur le point d’adhérer, et le petit ami allemand qu’elle avait rencontré à Lisbonne.

Elle a été l’une des pionnières du service de traduction portugais de la Commission européenne où elle travaille toujours. Elle a également été à la tête d’un syndicat européen pendant de nombreuses années. Elle a été candidate aux élections municipales de 2011 et 2017 pour déi gréng. Elle est membre de la Commission consultative communale d’intégration (CCCI) de la Ville de Luxembourg. Elle a peint, fait de la radio, dansé le flamenco, sculpté, arpenté des forêts et si elle n’a pas fait plus, c’est par manque de temps.

Elle a du mal à refuser un défi. Néanmoins, si elle a accepté le mandat de conseillère communale c’est surtout parce qu’elle aime la ville de Luxembourg et parce qu’elle croit avoir quelque chose à donner.

Eduarda Macedo est particulièrement concernée par le manque d’intérêt de nombreux citoyens pour la vie politique et par la faible participation des citoyens étrangers aux élections municipales. C’est pourquoi elle s’attellera surtout à augmenter la participation des citoyens étrangers aux élections municipales de 2023, en tant que candidats et électeurs, afin que le prochain conseil municipal reflète mieux la diversité de la population.

Pour ce faire, elle estime qu’il faudra trouver de nouveaux moyens d’atteindre les citoyens et de les associer véritablement aux décisions importantes concernant la construction du présent et de l’avenir de la ville. Il faudra passer de la participation à la cocréation.

Eduarda Macedo, a nova conselheira verde da capital

Stad Lëtzebuerg conta com mais uma conselheira verde. Em 18 de outubro Eduarda Macedo tomou hoje posse do cargo deixado por Carlo Back. Com ela, a composição do Conselho Municipal passa a refletir melhor a diversidade dos moradores da cidade.

Eduarda Macedo é portuguesa e nasceu em Lisboa há muitos anos. Foi em Lisboa que cresceu e estudou Psicologia. Tem um filho e vive em Beggen.

A primeira vez que visitou o Luxemburgo vinha sozinha, de inter-rail no bolso e mochila às costas. Se, nessa altura, lhe tivessem dito que voltaria ao país para ficar dificilmente teria acreditado. Voltou em meados dos anos oitenta, a correr atrás da Europa à qual Portugal estava prestes a aderir e do namorado alemão que conhecera em Lisboa.

Foi uma das pioneiras do serviço de tradução portuguesa da Comissão Europeia onde continua a trabalhar. Foi também dirigente de um sindicato europeu durante longos anos. Foi candidata às eleições municipais de 2011 e 2017 pelos déi gréng. É membro da Commission consultative communale d’intégration (CCCI) da Cidade de Luxemburgo há vários anos. Pintou, fez rádio, dançou flamenco, esculpiu, cantou ópera e palmilhou florestas e se mais não fez foi por falta de tempo.

Tem dificuldade em virar as costas a um desafio. Foi também por isso, mas sobretudo porque gosta de viver na Cidade de Luxemburgo e porque pensa ter algo para dar, que aceitou assumir o mandato de conselheira municipal.

Eduarda Macedo preocupa-se especialmente com o desinteresse de muitos cidadãos pela vida política e a fraca participação dos cidadãos estrangeiros nas eleições municipais. Por conseguinte, vai procurar contribuir ativamente para aumentar a participação dos estrangeiros nas eleições municipais de 2023, como candidatos e como eleitores, para que o próximo Conselho Municipal reflita melhor a diversidade da população.

Para isso, pensa que é necessário descobrir novas formas de chegar às pessoas, e de as implicar verdadeiramente nas grandes decisões relativas à construção do presente e do futuro da cidade. É necessário passar da participação à cocriação.

Eduarda Macedo, die neue grüne Gemeinderätin der Hauptstadt

Die Stad Lëtzebuerg hat eine neue grüne Gemeinderätin. Eduarda Macedo übernahm am 18. Oktober das Amt von Carlo Back. Damit nähert sich die Zusammensetzung des Gemeinderates weiter an die Vielfältigkeit der Bevölkerung an.

Eduarda Macedo ist Portugiesin, vor vielen Jahren in Lissabon geboren, wo sie auch aufgewachsen ist und Psychologie studiert hat. Sie hat einen Sohn und wohnt in Beggen.

Als sie das erste Mal Luxemburg besuchte, kam sie allein, mit Interrailticket und Rucksack. Hätte ihr damals jemand gesagt, sie würde wiederkommen und bleiben, sie hätte es wohl kaum geglaubt. Mitte der 80-er Jahre kam sie wieder, aus Liebe zu Europa, dem Portugal gerade beitrat, und ihrem deutschen Freund, den sie in Lissabon kennengelernt hatte.

Sie war eine der Wegbereiterinnen des portugiesischen Übersetzungsdienstes der Europäischen Kommission, bei dem sie heute noch arbeitet. Lange Zeit hatte sie auch führende Positionen in einer europäischen Gewerkschaft inne. Bei den Kommunalwahlen 2011 und 2017 kandidierte sie für déi gréng. Sie ist seit einigen Jahren Mitglied der beratenden kommunalen Integrationskommission (Commission consultative communale d’intégration, CCCI) der Stadt Luxemburg. Sie hat Bilder gemalt, Radio gemacht, Flamenco getanzt, Skulpturen gemeisselt, Opern gesungen und Wälder durchwandert. Für mehr hat die Zeit nicht gereicht.

Es fällt ihr schwer, einer Herausforderung aus dem Weg zu gehen. Auch deshalb, hauptsächlich aber weil sie gerne in der Stadt Luxemburg lebt und weil sie glaubt, etwas geben zu können, hat sie das Gemeinderatsmandat angenommen.

Eduarda Macedo macht sich Sorgen darüber, dass sich viele Bürgerinnen und Bürger nicht für Politik interessieren und dass so wenig ausländische Mitbürger.innen an den Kommunalwahlen teilnehmen. Sie will deshalb aktiv dazu beitragen, dass an den Kommunalwahlen 2023 mehr Ausländer.innen teilnehmen, als Kandidat.inn.en ebenso wie als Wähler.innen, damit sich die Vielfältigkeit der Bevölkerung im nächsten Gemeinderat besser wiederspiegelt.

Dazu braucht es ihrer Meinung nach neue Wege, um auf die Leute zuzugehen und sie wirklich in die großen Entscheidungen über die Gestaltung der Gegenwart und der Zukunft der Stadt einzubeziehen. Auf Teilnahme muss Mitgestaltung folgen.

Eduarda Macedo, new Green councillor for the capital

The city of Luxembourg has a new  councillor for the Green Party. Sworn in on Monday 18 October, Eduarda Macedo has taken the seat recently vacated by retiree Carlo Back. With this appointment, the diversity of the inhabitants of the city will be better reflected in the makeup of the Conseil.

Eduarda Macedo is Portuguese and was born many years ago in Lisbon, where she grew up and studied Psychology. She has one son and lives in Beggen.

Her first visit to Luxembourg was as a solo traveller with her Interrail pass in her bag and her backpack on her back. If anybody had told her then that she would come back to Luxembourg to stay, she would not have believed them, but return she did: in the mid-1980s, in pursuit of the Europe that Portugal was about to become a part of – and in pursuit of the German sweetheart she met in Lisbon.

She was one of the first to join the European Commission’s Portuguese Translation Service, where she continues to work to this day. For many years, she was also the leader of a European trade union. In 2011 and 2017 she stood as a candidate for Déi Gréng in the municipal elections. She is a member of Luxembourg City’s Municipal Advisory Committee on Integration (CCCI). She has tried her hand at painting, radio broadcasting, flamenco, sculpture and opera singing, walking in the woods – if there’s anything she hasn’t done, it’s just because she hasn’t had the time.

She is not the type to walk away from a challenge. All the same, she has accepted the mandate of councillor. She has a deep love for the city of Luxembourg, and would like to give something back.

Eduarda Macedo is particularly concerned about the lack of interest in politics and the muted participation of foreign citizens in local elections.

She is therefore setting out to improve upon the participation of foreign citizens in local elections for 2023, as well as their numbers as candidates and elected members, in a way that the local council can better reflect the diversity of the population.

To achieve this, she considers it necessary to find new ways of reaching out to the population, so that they can  connect with important decisions  about the current and future state of the city. It is time to move from being together to creating something together.
